Clay Petals to PedevillaArt

As you can see, my blog name has changed from Clay Petals to PedevillaArt.  You can now find my blog at www.PedevillaArt.blogspot.com.

In April I left my place of employment in the area of disability rights. Those that know me, know that I have worked in the disability community over 34 years.  Disability rights is one of my passions.

Those that know me, also know that I have a second passion in the Arts. I have been passionate about art my entire life.

I have taken these last couple of months to think about what direction I want to go. I have always wanted to use my creative side in my career.  I want what I love to be what I do and what I love is to be creative.  That said, I have decided to focus a lot more on my air dry clay business.  I am changing my business name to Pedevilla with the tag line of Clay Artistry.  I believe this is more elegant sounding than Clay Petals, plus I think our last name Pedevilla is so very beautiful.

I am working on a redesign of my website and will probably shut it down until the redesign is complete.  Looking forward to changes, as I have ignored my site for a long, long time. I have lots of work to do.  The website will be www.PedevillaArt.com and my business FaceBook page name now is Pedevilla - Clay Artistry.

Until next time,

Karen Pedevilla

New Branding/Look?

K A R E N   P E D E V I L L A
CLAY ART DESIGN

I have been thinking about changing the branding/look of my art business as well as a name change. I really don't like the name of my business "Clay Petals"  I don't think that it is pretty and it doesn't capture the beauty of my work.

The clay that I use is not pottery clay. It is a colorful air-dried clay and is used to create accent pieces, floral arrangements, wedding flowers, figurines, and wall art.

Because creating art is my business and I am the artist, I think I want to use our family name Pedevilla.  The name Pedevilla is very pretty and is a name that is unusual in the United States.  Many artists just use their name, as they create the art.

Once I make the decision, I hope to hire a friend of mine to create the look/logo.

I want the branding to be professional, beautiful and elegant. Maybe include an iris as the majority of my work are florals and one of my favorite flowers is the blue/purple bearded iris.

Clay Succulent or Not???

Question for the day..... Is this a real succulent or a clay succulent?

Yes, this is made of DECO Clay.  This is my first try at making succulents. I love it. Stay tune to see some more succulents in beautiful glass terrariums.

Plum Bonsai

Well, I found a little time to work on my DECO Clay projects today. This is my bonsai tree. I enjoyed using the garden clay. It really looks like real wood.  I hope to get some more time to work on more irises and maybe some tulips or hydrangea.

Iris

I am heading to Georgia in a few weeks for more training in DECO Clay.  So.... I have lots of homework to complete.  I am really pleased how this iris and mimosa turned out. I need to complete 3 more open irises and another bud to finish this project.

Today I recieved more supplies from DECO Clay Academy in Hawaii. I have so much to do, that I will probably be ordering more supplies before I leave.

I am about done with a plum bonsai tree. I will post pictures of it when complete.
