Decoupaging With Lace
I found this beautiful idea on the Urban Comfort blog. I think these lace containers would be beautiful with my clay florals. I can't wait to try it.

I am so excited to announce that Jovanna Hinkle, owner of the The Cakehole and I are partnering on some cake decorating. The Cakehole operates out of the kitchen at The Marott at 2625 North Meridian
Street, Indianapolis, IN. Jovanna asked me to create a red rose cake topper to place on the top of one of her beautiful display cakes. I am very pleased with how it turned out.
The red rose cake topper is on display with Jovanna's cakes at The Marott.
Thanks Jovanna for asking me to create a cake topper for one of your display cakes. Your work is stunning.

So Much News to Share....
What a week!
So much is happening with Clay Petals and my art! It is a little overwhelming.
Sunday I had so much fun at Indy Wedding Ideas, bridal show A Wedding to Remember at the Fishers Banquet Center. I met so many couples that are planning their weddings, many interested in custom handmade air dry clay wedding florals. Thanks, Debra and Rona!!
Tuesday, Indy Wedding Ideas hosted It's All About Style, a Wedding and Event Industry Night at Piper's at the Marott. Chris and I had so.... much fun. Great food, great music, great atmosphere, new friends, and DANCING. This event was a special invitation that went to all Wedding professionals. I am meeting so many professionals and look forward to making lasting friendships. What a great networking opportunity and a "wonderful evening was had by all". Again, thanks Debra and Rona
Wednesday and Thursday evenings, I worked on some custom orders and I worked on the last few Nativity scenes for Damselfly Artisan Gallery.
This afternoon, I met a new friend Patrycja Johansen at Bazbeau Pizza on Massachusetts Avenue. She and I plan on collaborating on a few art pieces and we are so excited. She is a very talented watercolor and ink artist. I met Patrycja at the Indy Wedding Network Group. You can see her work at http://www.pinkartstudio.com/
After lunch we walked down to the Art Bank on Mass Avenue and spent some time with Dan Haynes. Patrycja and I will both have art displayed in the Art Bank soon. This is such a wonderful opportunity for both of us to have our works beside other Indianapolis area artists.
I then headed to Pipers at the Merott and met up with Jovanna Hinkle, owner of The Cakehole. I met Jovanna at the Indy Wedding Ideas events. Jovanna is the creator of beautiful cakes and cupcakes. Jovanna is now doing business out of Pipers at the Merott. She has asked me to create a cake topper for one of her display cakes that is on display at the Merott. I look forward to our friendship and collaborations within the wedding world.
This evening was spent with my husband Chris. We went out to dinner. I am so proud of him. He is a veteran and I was able to thank him today as the nation celebrates our veterans. Thanks Chris and thanks to all those in the military for what you have done and are doing for all us.
As for the weekend, I have a custom order to start for Debra, a custom wedding frame to finish, and I hope to begin work on the red rose cake topper for Jovanna at The Cakehole. I also want to clean some around the house and I am going to my friend Nancy's for the afternoon on Saturday. Sleep, what's sleep????

Thank You and a Pink Killarney Rose
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I spent most of the day yesterday with a great friend Brenda. She gave up her whole day to help me with my brand/marketing materials. I think I left her beautiful home about midnight. The rose below is from one of my pieces and will become the basis for my business cards, postcards and most likely my website as well as my Etsy site. We worked on a postcard, flyer, and business card.
This rose is a Killarney Rose and I made 14 frames with pink Killarney roses for my daughter Emily's sorority a couple of years ago. She is a Delta Zeta at the University of Southern Indiana. Their sorority flower is a pink Killarney rose. Thank you so much Brenda. Brenda is a wonderful artist, you can see her work at http://www.brendaforemanart.com/

Beautiful Quote
I was looking through some new blogs. Stumbled upon the following quote and beautiful artwork. See Donna's Muse
"A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament. Its beauty comes from the fact that the author (of all arts) is what he/she is, and has nothing to do with the fact that other people want what they want. Indeed, the minute an artist takes notice of what other people want and tries to supply the demand, he/she ceases to be an artist but becomes a dull or amusing craftsman, and honest or dishonest tradesman. Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the workd has know. Alone and without any reference to his/her neighbors and without any interference, the artist can fashion a beautiful thing, and if he/she does not do it for his own pleasure, he/she is not an artist." Oscar Wilde

Love of Beauty is Taste. The Creation of Beauty is Art.
I love this quote,
I went to Indiana University, majored in therapeutic recreation and started my 30+ years working in the disability community.
I was always looking to find an art form that was unique and different. Three years ago I discovered CLAYCRAFT by DECO. Within three weeks, I was on a plane to California to train with Diane Phillips of DK Designs.
This unique clay product was developed in Japan by Kazuko Miyai. Her daughter Yukiko Miyai brought this unique art form to the states and founded Deco Clay Craft Academy in Hawaii in 2000. Throughout this blog I hope to share the creations I make for others. Enjoy.

| One of my first air dry clay creations |
I love creating. I get great pleasure creating floral pieces out of air dry clay that others will enjoy and I especially like to do custom pieces for bridal couples. My interest in art started when I was young. I took as many art classes as I could. Even taking art classes in summer school. My art teacher in high school, Mr Cain encouraged me to go into art as a career. At that time with little confidence in my work, I couldn't see how I would make a living. Not wanting to be a "starving artist", I chose a different path. I went to Indiana University, majored in therapeutic recreation and started my 30+ years working in the disability community.
